Israel's Land Authority issued a tender for construction of 627 settlement units in Kochav Ya'akov, IMEMC News reported, citing the Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission. The tender, numbered 177/2026, covers housing units to be built on Palestinian-owned land in the occupied West Bank settlement.
Kochav Ya'akov is among the largest Israeli settlements constructed on territory captured during the 1967 war. The settlement lies on land seized from Palestinian communities in the central West Bank. International bodies have consistently classified Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory as illegal under the Fourth Geneva Convention, though Israel contests this legal characterization and continues expanding existing settlements and establishing new ones.
