Human rights attorney Muhammad Jamil, head of the Arab Organization for Human Rights in London, described Israel's detention of Palestinian bodies and forced disappearances as among the gravest ongoing crimes requiring urgent international intervention, according to Shehab Wire. Jamil said 1,700 Palestinian bodies remain in Israeli custody while approximately 2,000 Palestinians have been forcibly disappeared.

The rights lawyer characterized the detention of remains belonging to Palestinian martyrs and the enforced disappearances as practices that constitute an unprecedented historical crime. Jamil called on the international community to take immediate action to halt what he described as one of the most egregious violations continuing under occupation.
