Israeli forces killed Nael Abu Obeid, commander of the Rafah Brigade in the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in an airstrike on southern Gaza on Tuesday evening, Shehab Wire reported. Hamas and Palestinian sources confirmed the operation.
Abu Obeid, also known as Abu Atiya, led one of the Palestinian faction's main military units in the southern Gaza enclave.
