Political analyst Jihad Malka said statements by occupation officials rejecting ceasefire initiatives expose an influential rightist current within the Israeli political establishment. The faction, according to Malka, is working to block any path toward a permanent Gaza ceasefire, the Shehab Wire reported.
Malka attributed the rejection of de-escalation measures to partisan political calculations rather than strategic considerations. Officials' refusal of ceasefire proposals, he argued, demonstrates the grip of right-wing forces on Israeli decision-making regarding the conflict.
