Egypt's Foreign Ministry summoned Colombia's chargé d'affaires in Cairo to lodge a formal protest against Bogotá's decision to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, according to Shehab Wire. An Egyptian diplomatic source said the move represents a grave step that Egypt categorically rejects.
The protest follows Colombia's announcement to establish its diplomatic mission in East Jerusalem, which Palestinians claim as their capital and Israel controls.
