Haaretz reported that next week the Israeli president will begin consultations with political parties following the completion of vote counting, after which he will decide who receives the initial 28-day mandate to form a government.
The president's consultations will determine which party leader gets the first opportunity to assemble a coalition. The mandate holder will have four weeks to negotiate with other parties and present a functioning government to the Knesset.
