Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem compelled Shadi Ubaidat to demolish his own house in the Jabal al-Mukaber neighborhood, the Ma'an news agency reported. The municipal order, issued by the Israeli municipality, cited unauthorized construction as justification for the forced demolition.
Ubaidat was ordered to carry out the demolition himself rather than face Israeli authorities conducting the work. The destruction of homes in Palestinian areas of Jerusalem on grounds of lacking building permits has remained a longstanding practice by Israeli municipal authorities, affecting dozens of Palestinian families across the city's occupied neighborhoods.
