Armed Jewish settlers arrived in two vehicles near the Ajja roundabout south of Jenin and demolished a memorial honouring Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. The memorial had been erected to commemorate the veteran correspondent.
Abu Akleh was killed in May 2022 while covering an Israeli military operation in the Jenin refugee camp. The circumstances of her death remain contested, with Palestinians and international observers saying Israeli forces fired the shot that killed her.
