Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich made inflammatory statements directed at Arab voters as ballots were being tallied following the election, Al Jazeera English reported. The remarks came as both major political blocs faced uncertainty over their paths to forming a governing coalition.
The statements from the right-wing leaders marked a sharp escalation in rhetoric targeting Israel's Arab minority during the sensitive period of vote counting and early coalition negotiations.
