The Committee of Families of Political Detainees in the occupied West Bank said the Palestinian Authority continues to hold political prisoner Amin al-Qawqa at a security committee facility in al-Jneid prison in Nablus, where he has been detained since 2007, Shehab Wire reported. The committee stated in a press statement that the prolonged detention aims to pressure al-Qawqa into surrendering to Israeli occupation forces.
The prisoner's case highlights long-standing tensions between Palestinian factions and the Authority's security apparatus over detention practices in West Bank facilities.
