The Palestinian Prisoners' Club said approximately 40 journalists are currently detained in Israeli prisons, the Shehab Wire agency reported. The group made the announcement Wednesday following the arrest of journalist Mohammad Awad from Ramallah that morning. The detainees include both male and female journalists working across Palestinian media outlets.
The prisoners' club further noted that the current detentions represent part of a broader pattern of arrests targeting the press. More than 250 journalists have been arrested since the onset of the conflict, the group stated, underscoring the sustained pressure on Palestinian media operations and freedom of reporting in the territories.
