Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said Israel should formally annex territory it currently occupies in Gaza and Lebanon, according to Middle East Eye. Speaking on a podcast, the far-right minister argued the move would impose consequences on the populations in those areas.
Smotrich did not elaborate on the scope of territory he believes should be annexed or provide additional justification for the proposal beyond his podcast remarks.
