US President Donald Trump has claimed that his backing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reversed what would have been a "decisive defeat" in Israeli elections, Middle East Eye reported. Trump did not provide specific evidence or timing for the claim, which appears to reference Netanyahu's political standing ahead of recent electoral contests.
The assertion adds Trump's endorsement to the array of domestic and international factors that have shaped Netanyahu's political fortunes. Netanyahu has faced legal challenges and political pressure over his handling of the war in Gaza and other governance issues.
