Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas told the United Nations that his delegation was unlawfully refused entry visas, The Guardian reported. Abbas delivered his address through a pre-recorded video for the second consecutive year, unable to attend in person.
The visa denial prevented the Palestinian delegation from participating in the General Assembly gathering in New York. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was observed meeting with officials on the assembly sidelines during the session.
