A French court has overturned a municipal decision to remove a photograph by Palestinian photographer Jihad al-Sharafi from the Deauville International Festival of Sports Photography, according to Shehab Wire. The Deauville municipality had ordered the image, taken in Gaza, removed from the exhibition, but the judicial ruling invalidated that decision and reinstated the work.
The court's decision restored al-Sharafi's photograph to the festival competition after the local authority moved to exclude it. The ruling reasserted the image's place in the international sports photography showcase despite the municipality's initial objection to its display.
