The Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said more than 8,000 bodies remain buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings across the territory, Shehab Wire reported. The toll underscores the scale of devastation across multiple districts in the enclave following months of intensive bombardment and ground operations that have razed residential and commercial structures.
Search and rescue teams face mounting obstacles in their efforts to locate and retrieve the remains.
