Gaza's fishing community has turned to extracting cement from the sea floor as a survival strategy amid the territory's economic collapse, the Ma'an news agency reported. Unable to sustain themselves through traditional fishing due to blockade restrictions and resource scarcity, fishermen now dive to recover cement that may be salvaged or repurposed.
The shift reflects how formal employment has eroded in Gaza, where residents pursue unconventional means to generate income under the strain of prolonged conflict and siege conditions.
