Palestinian athlete Allam Mohammed Shubair, 39, lost both legs after an Israeli airstrike and now trains daily from his wheelchair in al-Shati' refugee camp northwest of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. Seated in his chair, Shubair repeatedly attempts to lift his body in an effort to regain strength following the amputation.
Sports had defined Shubair's life before the strike destroyed his athletic career and mobility.
