Israeli forces detained Brad Lander, a Democratic candidate for US Congress and ally of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, during a sweep of the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to Al-Monitor. Lander was among 90 volunteers held by Israeli authorities.
The detention occurred as Lander, who has ties to progressive Democratic circles, was present in the territory. His apprehension marks a rare instance of Israeli forces detaining a prominent American political figure during operations in the occupied Palestinian lands.
