A poll by the Palestinian Center for Political and Survey Research found that a majority of Palestinians reject conditions set by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for candidates in forthcoming legislative elections, Shehab Wire reported. The survey also indicated declining public confidence in Abbas.
The rejected conditions govern eligibility for participation in the planned legislative vote. Abbas imposed the prerequisites as part of his framework for organizing the electoral process. The polling results reflect widespread popular dissatisfaction with the leadership's approach to structuring candidate access to the ballot.
