More than a year after a ceasefire took effect in October 2025, thousands of Palestinians in Gaza remain unaccounted for, with Israeli authorities withholding information about their fates from families, Mondoweiss reported. Relatives continue searching for loved ones who disappeared during the conflict, left without answers about whether detainees are held in Israeli facilities or have died.
The prolonged absence of official information has compounded the trauma for families already devastated by the violence. Palestinian households report no communication from authorities regarding the status or whereabouts of missing relatives, leaving them in a state of indefinite uncertainty.
