Ali Abu Yasin, a Gaza-based playwright, has won an English PEN award in recognition of his artistic resilience during the conflict, Al Jazeera English reported. Yasin continued writing for theatre despite the destruction surrounding him, maintaining his creative work amid the rubble of the territory.
The award honours writers who demonstrate exceptional courage and commitment to their craft under severe adversity. English PEN selected Yasin for persisting with theatrical creation in conditions of ongoing war and displacement.
