Israel's Supreme Court deadline expires today for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to respond to a petition from Temple Mount organizations seeking to open Al-Aqsa Mosque to settler incursions on Saturdays, Shehab Wire reported. The court had set the timeframe for Netanyahu's response to the request.
The petition represents an effort to expand access to the holy site for Jewish visitors on the Jewish Sabbath, a move rights groups have warned could escalate tensions at one of Islam's holiest locations.
