Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon has devastated Christian communities visible from the northern Israeli town of Metula, Dawn reported. The villages across the border, situated on hillsides with traditional architecture, have been reduced to rubble while Metula itself maintains freshly paved streets and intact red-roofed homes. On one side of the frontier sit ruins; on the other, newly maintained infrastructure.

The occupation has created a stark divide between Israel's northernmost internationally recognized territory and the adjoining Lebanese settlements now destroyed by military operations. Metula, positioned on elevated terrain, overlooks the devastation across the border, where once-thriving Christian villages now stand in ruins.
