Cancer patients in Gaza are dying at two to three times the rate they experienced before the war began, Al-Monitor reported, citing doctors who attribute the surge to Israeli restrictions on travel for treatment. Israel has blocked many patients from leaving the territory for care, while also destroying medical infrastructure that previously served cancer patients seeking diagnosis and therapy.
The restrictions have compounded an already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where oncology services have deteriorated sharply since the conflict started. Doctors say patients who might have survived with timely external treatment are instead succumbing to disease inside the territory.
