Hundreds of kilograms of lentils and legumes are accumulating unused inside tents housing displaced people across Gaza, according to Shehab Wire. Families received repeated food parcels over recent months in which lentils and other legumes appeared multiple times, displacing other staple items that residents say they need far more urgently for their households.
The buildup underscores a persistent mismatch in the aid pipeline. Aid organizations have distributed standardized packages without adequately accounting for the shifting needs of displaced families or accounting for what supplies already exist in the camps. The surplus lentils remain stacked in tents while families continue to lack other essential foodstuffs.
