The Metropolitan Police have settled a legal claim brought by Tej Singh Bhandal, 68, a pro-Palestinian activist, who accused officers of wrongfully detaining him under terrorism legislation, The Guardian reported. Bhandal was pulled from a queue and held under terror law in what his legal team characterized as a "creeping criminalisation of protest action."
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The case adds to ongoing scrutiny of how British police apply counterterrorism powers to protest activity.
