Palestinian activist Ziad al-Aaloul told Shehab Wire that recent appointments made by Palestinian Authority leadership abroad do not signal genuine commitment to holding elections for Palestinians outside the territory. He characterized the moves as contempt for the scale and political weight of Palestinian diaspora communities distributed across the world.
Al-Aaloul said the procedures and recent appointments by PA leadership express disdain for both the size of global Palestinian populations and their role and influence in Palestinian affairs. He argued the appointments reflect a lack of seriousness about conducting elections among diaspora Palestinians, according to his remarks to the news agency.
