The Palestinian Central Election Commission announced Tuesday that it received a presidential decree Monday evening modifying the general elections law, according to Shehab Wire. The decree reinstated several provisions from the original electoral statute while introducing new amendments to the legislative framework governing elections.
The commission said field registration for voters would commence Saturday following receipt of the amended law. The move signals progress toward holding elections after the adoption of the revised electoral legislation, which had been under discussion between Palestinian officials.
