Palestinian family committee demands release of slain militant's brother

The Committee of Families of Political Detainees in the West Bank called on the Palestinian Authority to immediately release Moataz al-Bitawi, brother of slain fighter Qais al-Bitawi, Shehab Wire reported. According to the committee, al-Bitawi has been held by the Security Committee at Jenin prison since February 7 without disclosure of charges or legal proceedings.
The committee's call underscores ongoing tensions between Palestinian civil society groups and the Authority over detention practices.
