Majed al-Zier, deputy head of the General Authority of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, declared recent appointments made by Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority leadership in the diaspora as void and unacceptable, Shehab Wire reported. Al-Zier said the measures represent only those who stand behind them and do not reflect broader Palestinian constituencies in exile.
The rejections signal ongoing friction within Palestinian institutional structures operating outside the territories. Al-Zier's statement challenges the legitimacy of staffing decisions by the Authority and PLO leadership among diaspora communities, suggesting fractures within the conference framework tasked with overseeing Palestinian affairs abroad and representing exiled populations.
