Israeli prison guards shot and wounded prominent Palestinian detainee Hassan Salameh nine times last month, according to Middle East Eye. His fiancée and a prisoners' rights group made the allegation, though the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear from available reports.
Salameh's case adds to mounting complaints over treatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody. Rights advocates have raised concerns about conditions and incidents within the prison system.
