At least five people, including three children, died when heavy rains caused a sandbank to collapse in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, Wafa news reported Sunday. The collapse occurred as the territory experienced severe weather.
Heavy rainfall destabilized the sandbank, burying those nearby. The incident adds to Gaza's exposure to environmental hazards, compounded by damage to infrastructure from the ongoing conflict.
