Sally Rooney's publisher has withdrawn the Irish author's books from the UK market, Al Jazeera English reported. The decision followed Rooney's public support for Palestine Action, an activist group that has staged disruptive protests at bookshops and other venues.
Rooney, whose novels have won major literary awards, had announced her backing for the organization's campaign methods. The pullback marks a rare instance of a major publisher removing an author's work from circulation over political statements rather than content concerns.
