The United Nations human rights office expanded its list of businesses operating in Israeli West Bank settlements on Friday, adding 61 new companies to what the global body considers illegal enterprises, Al-Monitor reported. The additions bring the total number of flagged companies under increased scrutiny as the UN pressures multinational corporations to divest from or cease operations in settlements.
The settlements are considered illegal under international law and widely viewed as obstacles to Palestinian statehood and peace efforts in the region.
