The United Nations Human Rights Office stated that the absence of accountability for Israeli attacks in Gaza, despite a ceasefire, is a primary driver of continued violence, Shehab Wire reported. Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said impunity encourages further attacks and sustains the conflict.
Without consequences for military operations, Israeli forces have no deterrent to ongoing strikes in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, according to the UN assessment.
