Democracy for the Arab World Now filed formal sanctions referrals with the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Norway and Australia on Wednesday, calling for punitive measures against former and current Israeli army unit commanders overseeing what the organization describes as a starvation campaign against Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
The referrals target commanders of the Israeli military unit administering the policy, according to DAWN. The organization alleges a systematic campaign of food deprivation targeting the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
