The Washington Post filed from Qusra: Israeli troops stood by while settlers besieged Palestinian homes, and the families who expected the army to protect them waited for help that never arrived.
The New York Times widened the same file into a judgement about the government. Under the headline that Israel's leaders sympathise with the settlers as the army fails to protect Palestinians, the paper set Defence Minister Israel Katz's order — hand the task to the police — against two West Bank families besieged in their homes.
Axios reported that Trump has not endorsed Netanyahu with the Israeli election ten weeks away, and published the Oval Office exchange in which an aide answered the president's question about the polls on the prime minister's behalf.
The Hill carried Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's promise of new economic measures against Iran next week, and the UAE's accusation that Iran struck two tankers with drones in the Strait of Hormuz — the file that decides how much attention Washington has left for Gaza.
The New York Times also reported that a south Florida venue cancelled a campaign rally that Representative Rashida Tlaib was to headline, three days before a primary in which the candidates she was backing face Jewish Democrats.
