Amnesty International called on Israel to immediately release Palestinian farmer and land defender Ghassan Najjar, arrested during a pre-dawn military raid on the village of Burin south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank on October 27. The organization's Americas director, Erika Guevara Rosas, responded to the arrest without disclosing additional charges or legal grounds cited by Israeli forces.
Burin has faced repeated tensions over Palestinian land rights and settlement expansion in the area. Amnesty has documented detention practices targeting Palestinian activists and land defenders in the occupied territories.
