Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has drafted a plan to relocate Border Police bases in the West Bank to Areas A and B, according to the Ma'an news agency. The repositioning aims to strengthen control over the territory and improve the operational response capacity of security forces stationed there.
Areas A and B are Palestinian-administered zones established under the Oslo Accords. Area A falls under full Palestinian Authority control, while Area B operates under joint Israeli-Palestinian administration. The proposal would place Israeli security personnel in zones where Palestinian authorities hold primary administrative responsibility, a move that could complicate the existing security arrangements in the occupied territory.
