A leaked audio recording captures Haredi leader Rabbi Dov Landau attacking religious Zionism and its soldiers, Shehab Wire reported. In the recording, Landau states that Arab rule or United Nations governance would have been preferable to Israel's establishment, and characterizes Zionists as thieves.
The remarks have sparked controversy within Israeli political circles. Landau, a prominent figure in the Haredi community, has been a divisive voice on Zionism's relationship to Jewish tradition and its consequences.
