Israel's right-wing bloc led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu finished ahead in Tuesday's elections but failed to secure the 61 seats required for a parliamentary majority, Al-Monitor reported. The results left Netanyahu facing difficult coalition negotiations with smaller parties to form a government.
With most votes counted, Netanyahu's Likud party and allied right-wing and ultra-Orthodox factions held a plurality but remained below the threshold needed to govern alone. The shortfall could force negotiations with centrist or other political forces, complicating efforts to quickly assemble a coalition government.
