Political detainee Amjad Abd al-Salam Ubeid, held by Palestinian Authority security forces at the Jabriyat facility in Jenin for eight months, launched an open-ended hunger and water strike Thursday, according to the Families Committee. The Shehab Wire reported that Ubeid has been in custody without charges or trial during his detention.
Details of the reasons prompting the strike were not immediately available. Ubeid's case adds to mounting concerns over lengthy detentions within the PA security apparatus.
