Gaza's ministry of detainees and released prisoners warned of a severe health threat to inmates after confirmed cases of scabies emerged in Israeli facilities, Shehab Wire reported. At least ten female prisoners contracted the contagious skin disease in Damoun prison, according to detainee advocacy organizations.
Islam Abdo, media director at the Gaza ministry, cautioned that conditions in Israeli detention facilities posed grave risks to prisoners' lives. The outbreak underscores deteriorating sanitary conditions in the prisons where Palestinians are held.
