Extremist Israeli settlers uprooted and cut down dozens of olive trees on Sunday afternoon in the Khalayel al-Louz housing area, south of Bethlehem, according to Palestinian residents, the Palestine News Network reported. The incident marks another in a series of tree-cutting incidents in the area.
The Khalayel al-Louz neighborhood lies in a region where friction between Palestinian landowners and Israeli settlers has persisted. Olive cultivation has long sustained Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
