The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said approximately 5.8 million refugee children did not enroll in schools during 2025, according to its 2026 education report, Shehab Wire reported. The figure represents a significant portion of the global refugee child population facing barriers to education.
The agency noted that 44 percent of 13.1 million school-age refugee children worldwide remain out of formal education. Gaza's children are among those most severely affected by the ongoing education crisis facing displaced populations.
