Egyptian lawmakers and journalists on Tuesday dismissed threats from Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the Ma'an news agency reported. Smotrich had made inflammatory statements targeting Egypt, prompting swift pushback from Cairo's political establishment and media commentators.
The responses came amid rising tensions between Israeli officials and Egypt over statements and policies perceived as threatening to Egyptian sovereignty and interests. Egyptian figures rejected what they characterized as hostile rhetoric from the Israeli government.
