Trump has approved the execution of Nidal Hasan, a Palestinian convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood attack, the Ma'an news agency reported. Hasan was sentenced to death for opening fire at the U.S. Army base in Texas, killing 13 people and wounding others in what remained one of the deadliest mass shootings on an American military installation.
The approval moves the case toward carrying out the death sentence. Hasan, who had previously declined to pursue further appeals, has maintained that he acted on his convictions.
