Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich escalated threats against Egypt, suggesting the occupation could target the Sinai Peninsula if military confrontation erupts between Cairo and Israel, according to Shehab Wire. The statement coincided with the 53rd anniversary of the October War.
Smotrich, a member of the Israeli government, raised the level of his rhetoric toward Egypt amid tensions between the two countries. His comments invoking potential strikes on Egyptian territory marked a significant escalation in public threats from a senior Israeli official.
