Omar al-Hassayna fled Gaza for Cairo after an Israeli airstrike killed much of his large family, according to Al-Monitor. The displacement has left him and others among Gaza's evacuees haunted by grief while waiting for the possibility of return.
Many Palestinians displaced from Gaza remain stranded in foreign countries, unable to go home as the conflict continues. Their departure, often prompted by loss and destruction, has separated families and extended the trauma of displacement beyond the territory itself.
